The new era of Formula 1 is off to a great start. We’ve had two fantastic races to get the 2022 season underway and it’s exactly what the sport needed to kick the hangover from Abu Dhabi last year. The race in Saudi Arabia last weekend was the third most-watched of the 201 races Sky has broadcast so far in the UK, behind only the final two Grands Prix of last season, so I’m glad to see the fans have returned despite Lewis Hamilton not being in contention – yet.
I think we’ve now seen and heard enough comments from the drivers to conclude the new regulations are working. The drivers are able to follow other cars through medium and high-speed corners much more closely than last year and with the cars being so big, the slipstream and DRS effect is extremely powerful.
