The home straight is anything but. It’s a never-ending, constant radius corner. Our last location is the high speed bowl at the famous Millbrook Proving Ground. I certainly don’t want the day to end, but the strip of sky above the Armco to my right is apparently on fire; a vibrant, volcanic orange signifying the dying of the day.
I’m on the inside lane, holding formation. And I’m smiling. Not for the cameras, just because. Why wouldn’t I be? I’m in a Porsche 911 GT1, looking out over those ridiculously large wing mirrors at a McLaren F1 and a Mercedes CLK GTR. The whole day has been a dream, but it’s only now I know the filming and photography are mostly finished that I can allow myself to relax a little. The job is done. There are experiences to relate, images to prove it happened. I can just enjoy this.
