I’m not sure if you know Mark Sumpter, but he’s the man who founded Paragon Porsche 30 years ago and built it into one of the world’s most respected specialists when it comes to 911s and other Porsche sports cars. If you don’t, he’ll be a guest on an imminent Ti podcast and is well worth a listen.
As is the way with such things, we recorded the episode a few days ago and among many interesting observations, he told us he was increasingly hearing from owners of 992-generation 911s hankering after something a little older, a little more – for want of a less hackneyed cliché – analogue.
Now, one quite obvious point to make is that if you were so minded, Mark is precisely the sort of cove you’d ring up to find a perfect example of an earlier 911, so he’s likely to hear from more than most. Even so, it did make me wonder, because now I am in my post-911 era and therefore reflecting at leisure about six months in a 992, I don’t feel that way about it at all.
