Heaven be praised, it’s gone wrong! I say this not with any sense of schadenfreude at such misfortune for Porsche, but as a hack looking for a few easy words to write and not much time in which to write them, for whom such issues fall as manna from heaven.
I say it’s gone wrong and it has, sort of. Ish. Enough for it to go back to Porsche GB on the same truck that delivered to me the 911 S/T for last week’s comparison with the Dakar so they could have a look at it. Which they duly did.
I first noticed the symptoms – well, symptom – a few weeks ago. I was driving somewhere, looked at the large central rev-counter – the last analogue instrument in the cabin and soon to be replaced by a full electronic screen in the forthcoming second-generation 992 – and saw a little yellow engine warning light staring back at me. Which was a surprise.
