I’d love to say that I planned it that way, but I didn’t. The only reason it happened at all is that the Artura went wrong. One morning after not weeks but months of heavy rain, I discovered the passenger side floor mat was wet, and the one on my side mildly moist at best. After I had checked to see I’d not left a window open overnight it was pretty clear something was up.
This being McLaren’s car rather than mine, they wanted it back to check out the fault themselves, and it just so happened the very day they wanted it was the day they were due to drop off a 750S for our comparison with the Ferrari 296 GTB which, if you have not already, you can read here. So the same trailer that delivered the 750S took away the Artura.
McLaren elected not to make up some dumbass excuse or try and blame me but instead revealed that a vent under the car designed to equalise the pressure within the cabin (don’t ask how, I have no idea) had a faulty seal which, after months of the aforementioned rain, had finally given way. They also told me they’d seen it happen on one other car. It would be resealed, dried out and returned.
