I’m not really sure what kids put on their bedroom walls these days. I suspect it’s a mix of computer game heroes, footballers and K-pop stars.
But in the Seventies, it was all about cars. Athena will probably be best remembered for the saucy tennis player photograph, but the poster merchant would also have made a small fortune peddling images of Lamborghini Countachs, Ferrari Testarossas and flat-nosed Porsche 911 Turbos.
My teenage bedroom was no different from most. Alongside pictures of Blondie and Raquel Welch I had loads of photos of Ferraris. An early red 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer, a large black and white image of Gilles Villeneuve sideways in a Ferrari 312T4 and, in pride of place, a shot of a Giallo Fly Dino 246 GT from a 1970 Automobile Year annual.
