I decided I wanted to be a car designer when I was three. In my early years I bypassed drawing the family next to a tree with a stick dog, and went straight to cars. While most three-year-old petrolheads start drawing Lamborghinis, Jaguars and Ferraris, these weren’t good enough for me. I’d sit down and sketch cars of my own design.
This constant scribbling led to my schoolwork being somewhat unfocussed, but my ambition to be a creator of new cars continued unabated. When asked for help, career advisors dismissed my plans with a simple, ‘There’s no such thing as a car designer,’ and that was that.
