There’s an old cliché about only finding real love when not looking for it and, while I’m not sure of its relevance to the current dating landscape, I certainly think there’s some truth in it when it comes to cars.
You won’t know this, but I am usually a very careful buyer. I’m the type of person who’ll study the market, weigh pros and cons and run all my finances through a spreadsheet before I even commit to going to see a car. You may remember from a previous story that I spent the best part of a year pondering an E46 BMW M3, when the answer was pretty obvious all along.
That doesn’t mean I don’t find myself fawning over random cars found in dark corners of the internet – because I do, a lot. But such episodes are usually short-lived as the voice of reason is quick to remind me that I cannot yet afford the fleet of my dreams (let alone the maintenance that comes with it). There is, however, one exception.
