I am writing this 35,000 feet above Earth en route to one of the biggest weekends F1 has seen in nearly half a century. After 47 years, we head to the final round of the World Championship with the two title contenders equal on points. It’s been an extraordinary season with drama and controversy, great battles on circuit and a war of words beyond the track limits.
There has been some astonishing driving of course, but also too many incidents that have marred the campaign. After 21 races, for Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in Abu Dhabi it’s a winner takes all contest reminiscent of a Wimbledon or Cricket World Cup final.
