Steve Sutcliffe, one of the most highly regarded car reviewers in the country, is joining Ti’s world-class writer line-up. Today Steve is best known for his written and video reviews for Evo and Auto Express, but is also a previous Road Test Editor and Editor of Autocar.
Steve will not only be writing reviews for us, he’s also going to helm a new series called ‘Overrated’, where he casts a refreshingly honest eye over those cars he believes got a better press than they deserved. We’ve seen the list and it’s fair to say feathers are going to be ruffled. Very ruffled indeed. The first car in his crosshairs? Everyone’s favourite rally-bred pocket rocket, the Toyota GR Yaris. If you want to find out why he thinks it’s not good enough, the story will be on the Ti website and app on Monday.
You can read more about Steve here.
He joins a team featuring not just Henry Catchpole, Andrew English and Colin Goodwin, but industry legends such as Mel Nichols and Peter Robinson. Journalists only report on the work of others, which is why we also retain engineers, designers and drivers to write for us. You can find original stories on the website from Aston Martin DB7 and Jaguar F-Type designer Ian Callum, Lotus Elise and Range Rover Evoque designer Julian Thomson, former F1 driver and current F1 pundit Karun Chandhok, plus Alpine A110 chief engineer David Twohig and ex-JLR engineer Joanna Fidalgo.
So if you are not already a Ti subscriber, perhaps now might be the time? You can sign up here in seconds. The subscription costs the same £4.99 per month and £49.99 per year as when we launched Ti in April 2021, but we’re not immune to external cost pressures and are investing heavily in our content. In short prices will be rising, and soon. So join us now and find out exactly what it was about the GR Yaris that wowed everyone else, yet left Steve unmoved. His next target is more startling still.
